Mild tension in Hyd old city area as two groups clash, security beefed up

Senior police officials including Hyderabad Commissioner Anjani Kumar rushed to the spot with reinforcements and brought the situation under control.


Mild tension prevailed at Hussainialam area in Hyderabad’s old city on Wednesday night after a clash between two groups from different communities, Initial reports say the argument broke out over a personal issue.

As several people began joining the clash, senior police officials including Hyderabad Commissioner Sri Anjani Kumar, DCP South zone Amber Kishore Jha and others rushed to the spot with reinforcements and brought the situation under control.

The incident took place near Palki Garden Function Hall at Koka Bazaar under Hussainialam PS Limits.

Five to Six people suffered injuries and were rushed to Osmania Hospital for treatment.

A Passenger Auto was also damaged by the mob.

Speaking to News53 reporter, a police officer said, “The dispute was related to parking vehicles of those who came to attend a marriage. As soon as we received information about the clash, we rushed to the spot. The situation is completely under control and everyone has been dispersed. Even then, keeping the sensitivity of the area in mind, we have deployed additional police force and We are closely monitoring the situation.”

Asked if they identified and arrested any of the miscreants behind this, the officer said, “As of now, we focused on dispersing the crowd. We will identify those responsible and take action accordingly.”

The old city area of Hyderabad is a communally sensitive area.
